Using AI
As mentioned in In Blazing Red, it was written and illustrated by making use of artificial intelligence (AI). We know there are many thoughts on how AI should be used, but in this case it allowed Will to create a special memory for his son, and to say thank you to some very brave people.
In Blazing Red was not written by AI, but AI tools were instrumental in its creation. It took months and hundreds if not thousands of queries, learning how to use AI tools, then using the tools to modify the content created by other AI tools to generate Will's vision.
The text started from Will's words and Open AI's ChatGPT was used to edit, adjust for meter, and contribute thoughts on rhymes and additional stanzas. This content was then parsed and reassembled based on Will's goals for the poem.
Images were largely generated by Open AI's DALL-E. They were then upscaled and adjusted with GIMP and Topaz Gigapixel AI. These images were modified using Stable Diffusion's inpainting options to isolate portions of images that needed to be fixed, or that Will wanted to look differently. Finally, he used Adobe Photoshop to further adjust the images to his liking, add the poem text, and prepare the book for printing.
